“You should return home as safely as you left it.” Our occupational safety specialist Björn Jompertz lives by this motto every day. Occupational safety is a key priority at FASANA. However, Björn’s work goes far beyond simply complying with regulations. He is concerned with people, their safety, and their well-being in the workplace.

Occupational safety at FASANA

“You should return home as safely as you left it.” Our occupational safety specialist Björn Jompertz lives by this motto every day. For him, occupational safety at FASANA means more than just complying with regulations. He is concerned with people, their safety, and their well-being in the workplace.

What does our occupational safety specialist do?
Björn is the central point of contact at FASANA when it comes to occupational safety, health, and fire protection. He advises entrepreneurs, managers, and employees and ensures that occupational safety at FASANA does not just exist on paper, but is actively practiced. He always keeps people in mind. “Every employee is my top priority. If the employees are doing well, the company is doing well too,” he says.

The diverse tasks

Instruction and training

Björn conducts training sessions for all employees, assists with risk assessments, and draws up operating and work instructions. He also trains first aiders and fire safety officers and ensures that they can refresh their knowledge on a regular basis.

Inspection of machinery and work equipment

His tasks also include inspecting new machinery and work equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.

Organization and cooperation

In addition, he plans important meetings on work and safety issues, organizes occupational health checkups, and handles communication with professional associations and authorities.

He describes his motivation as follows: “I am passionate about occupational health and safety and fire protection every day and want everyone to be able to work safely.”

Common safety mistakes and how to avoid them
Even in a safe working environment, mistakes can happen. The most common causes are careless behavior or minor negligence. “People often forget to wear cut-resistant gloves, don’t wear bump caps, or use stairs without handrails,” explains Björn. His most important tip: “Plan tasks carefully, check for hazards in advance, and only then start. Even a brief risk assessment before starting work can prevent many accidents.”

Indispensable aids in the workplace
Our safety expert relies on tried-and-tested reference works such as accident prevention regulations, technical rules, and fire safety regulations in his daily work. His compact information folder, which he always carries with him in his yellow high-visibility vest, is particularly practical. He affectionately calls it “fire safety in his pocket.”

Safety means appreciation
At FASANA, we see occupational safety as more than just a duty. For us, it is an expression of respect and care for all employees. Every training course, every exercise, and every measure is designed to make people feel safe and motivated to do their jobs. “When people are doing well, the company is doing well,” summarizes Björn.

Talents for tissue Logo

The year 2023 starts for us directly with a trade fair weekend at TrendSet: from 07 to 09 January 2023 you will find us in Munich in hall A2, booth A29. Afterwards, we will present our new spring-summer collection at TrendsUp West from February 11 to 14, 2023 in Düsseldorf (booth C1). We are looking forward to many visitors at both fairs, who will be inspired by us and whom we may turn into satisfied customers.

The new FASANA magic moments spring-summer collection 2023 includes many fresh and floral motifs in the popular grass napkins range as well as in the tissue range. In addition, our collection has been supplemented by the cocktail napkin format 24 cm. The individual themes are thus perfectly rounded off and can be excellently combined.

…why we are reinventing ourselves with the new company name.

The new CEO Karsten Beisert provides insights into the changed shareholder structure and the strategic orientation.

1. What does the new company name mean for the company?
As FASANA, we carry our history in the company logo (Est. 1919) and associate it with a long tissue papermaking tradition at the Stotzheim site. Regionally rooted, highly competent in the implementation of customer requirements as well as responsible in the use of resources, we are present as a partner of the trade with our napkin collections in Europe.

2. Does the company name FASANA create more identification with the employer among the employees?
So far, only a small part of our production has our logo. We have been the leading manufacturer of private label napkins for the consumer/at home market for decades. Food retail is our core business. More often, professional consumers such as innkeepers will find FASANA on bulk packs in the Away from Home market. We are very committed to our products regardless of packaging and live our commitment to quality and customer focus. After all, there is always FASANA with the end customer. The small reference is also found on private labels.

3. And keeeper…?
That was an intermediate step taken by the shareholders. Based on market overlaps and possible identical supply channels, it was decided after the acquisition by Mutares to combine the napkin and household products business. We are now a direct Mutares holding and, as usual, are operating successfully in our distribution and sales channels. With the new company name, we have a convincing presence and are engaged in “story telling” as is common in sales. FASANA remains.

4 So is the rebranding just a marketing measure?
FASANA is strategic. We have a “forward strategy FASANA napkins”. With conviction and good reasons we say: “a napkin belongs to every meal”. We want to and will work all relevant markets and offer suitable collections. To this end, we are rounding off our portfolio. In particular, the sustainable new “GRASS” and “COTTON-MIX” napkins as well as the comprehensive new “magic moments” series with beautiful motif napkins suitable for every taste bear the FASANA logo. With this we return to the roots of FASANA and at the same time to our absolute strengths. We express this in our mission “to turn ordinary into unique moments”. This is how we – every single employee in his or her area in the company – manage to live our vision “To be the perfect companion for every meal”.

A responsible use of our raw material resources is important to us, and therefore we use alternative sustainable raw materials for our napkins.

  • 45 trees can be obtained per day.*
  • This corresponds to an oxygen demand of 1,575 people per day.*
  • This leaves 450 kg of CO² stored per year.*

Our FASANA Cotton-Mix napkins have a pleasant soft feel and convince with a cotton feeling. They consist of 50% pulp and 50% of the sustainable raw material cotton. We only use the Linters fibers that remain as a by-product in the production of cotton oil and process them into a high-quality FASANA Superior Line product for the laid table.

„still standing“ napkins – Inspiring hope for the world

This year we would like to unite the whole world at Christmas with the “still standing” napkin under the Christmas tree.

Covid pandemic has undoubtedly changed our life as we know it and continues to pose great personal and operational challenges for us all. In addition to that, we find ourselves still struggling with the consequences of the flood disaster which has severely affected many of our employees in the region. Return to normalcy remains but our hope and unfulfilled Christmas wish for the time being.

Under the motto “still standing” we have designed and produced our own motif napkin. We would like to donate 1 Euro with every package sold for social projects in the flood region in order to give families in need a hopeful Christmas. With lichtblicke.de, we have a strong, transparent and experienced partner at our side.

The still standing napkins in the red Christmas motif are available via the website created especially for the initiative still-standing.info or at keeeper tableware on site.

Together we could lead the “still standing” project to success and give many families much more than the gift of hope.
