Sustainable paper mill

Sustainability is one of our core competencies. The efficient use of raw materials, energy and water determines our daily work. We strive to minimize emissions to water and air.

As a medium-sized company, FASANA GmbH meets national specifics with utmost flexibility and complies with all global standards. Our plant is certified according to the international standards ISO 9001 (quality management systems) and ISO 14001 (environmental management systems). We are certified in the field of energy management according to ISO 50001 and thus make a significant contribution to environmental and climate protection.

We audit all our suppliers to ensure compliance with our Code of Conduct, the required sustainability specifications and the relevant legal requirements.

Sustainable alternative raw materials

We love nature and responsible use of our raw material resources is important to us. Through sustainable forestry, raw materials, energy and water are used efficiently and emissions to water and air are minimized.
Our products are PEFC or FSC© certified.

We use alternative sustainable raw materials for our napkins in addition to pulp. This allows more trees to be preserved for CO2 storage and oxygen production. We can test new raw material ideas flexibly and at short notice on our own paper machine.

There are different natural raw materials that we include in our considerations:

Regional and rapidly renewable
Water and energy saving production
Upcycling/refining of residual materials

With grass, we use a regional and rapidly renewable raw material that does not require any chemical additives and is very water and energy efficient in production.

The grass tissue convinces with a natural coloring with visible grass fibers. We use water-based inks for printing.

With Cotton-Mix, we refine a by-product left over from the European cotton harvest and thus give a residual material a second life as a fine dinner napkin. No separate cultivation areas are necessary. Cotton is virtually free of all lignin, acid and non-cellulose impurities, providing greater lightfastness. Our Cotton-Mix tissue has a pleasantly soft feel and scores with a cotton feel. A printed linen structure underlines the high-quality character.

In addition to 100% chlorine-free bleached pulp, grass and cotton, we process unbleached pulp. This raw material does not require bleaching at the end of production. Less chemicals are used and the environment is protected. Our unbleached tissue impresses with a natural coloring due to the fibers left naturally brown and is printed and finished with water-based inks.

We use sustainable alternative raw materials. On our paper machine, we can test new raw material ideas flexibly and at short notice.

Packaging

We use a transparent polypropylene film as the primary packaging for our products. The material meets the high requirements for packaging and is recyclable at the same time. It is a flexible mono-material (no composite), which is 100% recyclable. The recycled content is 30%.

Our first requirement is to reduce the plastic content to a minimum and at the same time meet the high packaging demands. With a film thickness of 25my, our consumer packaging is among the lightest in the napkin environment.

At the same time, we are constantly searching for alternative packaging materials that meet the requirements of napkin packaging.

Our alternative wood pulp-based film is a plastic-free, transparent paper packaging. It is made from renewable raw materials sourced from controlled cultivation and sustainable forestry.

Our primary packaging is 100% recyclable.
