“You should return home as safely as you left it.” Our occupational safety specialist Björn Jompertz lives by this motto every day. Occupational safety is a key priority at FASANA. However, Björn’s work goes far beyond simply complying with regulations. He is concerned with people, their safety, and their well-being in the workplace.

Occupational safety at FASANA

“You should return home as safely as you left it.” Our occupational safety specialist Björn Jompertz lives by this motto every day. For him, occupational safety at FASANA means more than just complying with regulations. He is concerned with people, their safety, and their well-being in the workplace.

What does our occupational safety specialist do?
Björn is the central point of contact at FASANA when it comes to occupational safety, health, and fire protection. He advises entrepreneurs, managers, and employees and ensures that occupational safety at FASANA does not just exist on paper, but is actively practiced. He always keeps people in mind. “Every employee is my top priority. If the employees are doing well, the company is doing well too,” he says.

The diverse tasks

Instruction and training

Björn conducts training sessions for all employees, assists with risk assessments, and draws up operating and work instructions. He also trains first aiders and fire safety officers and ensures that they can refresh their knowledge on a regular basis.

Inspection of machinery and work equipment

His tasks also include inspecting new machinery and work equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.

Organization and cooperation

In addition, he plans important meetings on work and safety issues, organizes occupational health checkups, and handles communication with professional associations and authorities.

He describes his motivation as follows: “I am passionate about occupational health and safety and fire protection every day and want everyone to be able to work safely.”

Common safety mistakes and how to avoid them
Even in a safe working environment, mistakes can happen. The most common causes are careless behavior or minor negligence. “People often forget to wear cut-resistant gloves, don’t wear bump caps, or use stairs without handrails,” explains Björn. His most important tip: “Plan tasks carefully, check for hazards in advance, and only then start. Even a brief risk assessment before starting work can prevent many accidents.”

Indispensable aids in the workplace
Our safety expert relies on tried-and-tested reference works such as accident prevention regulations, technical rules, and fire safety regulations in his daily work. His compact information folder, which he always carries with him in his yellow high-visibility vest, is particularly practical. He affectionately calls it “fire safety in his pocket.”

Safety means appreciation
At FASANA, we see occupational safety as more than just a duty. For us, it is an expression of respect and care for all employees. Every training course, every exercise, and every measure is designed to make people feel safe and motivated to do their jobs. “When people are doing well, the company is doing well,” summarizes Björn.

Start of training at FASANA: Welcome to the team!
It’s been official since August 1: Four new trainees have found their way to our plant and are now embarking on an exciting new chapter in their lives, with lots of new impressions, initial challenges, and a great opportunity to really get their careers off to a flying start.

The first day – curious, motivated, right in the thick of things
To kick things off, our new trainees were warmly welcomed by their trainer. In a relaxed atmosphere, they were able to get to know each other, ask their first questions, and make their first contacts. At a welcome event, they also gained an insight into our working world, right in the thick of things from the very beginning.

Arriving, getting oriented, and getting started
The first few days are all about orientation: company structure, safety rules, initial organizational processes. All of this is part of a successful start.

Personal support from the very beginning
What makes starting training at FASANA special? The close support from our trainers and the open atmosphere within the team. In regular learning sessions, discussions, and practical tasks, our trainees not only experience their profession, but also grow personally step by step.
